About this Class

In this course, Creative Writing: Introduction to Fiction and Poetry, we will focus on the craft and process of writing fiction and poetry. We will read poems, short stories, and novels to help us think about how to craft our own writing, focusing especially on topics of character, plot, setting, theme, style, and form.

What makes a story or poem effective?  How do writers cultivate their craft?  How can we use their skills and talents to build our own? These are some of the questions we will think about as we work our way through this course. We will put them into practice during workshop, where we will read and critique each others’ writing.
